Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
Day 2
Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya (City of Lights), blessed with salubrious climate, breath taking views of valleys, meadows, mountains and greenery. Surrounded by hills and tea plantations, the town of Nuwara Eliya enjoys spring-like weather throughout the year. It is also known as “Little England”, which was the favorite hill station of the British who tried to create Nuwara Eliya into a typical English Village. The old brick Post office, country house like hill club with its hunting pictures, trophies and strict formal dinner attire; the 18-hole golf course, horse race course, etc., all remind you of “England”. During the city tour in Nuwara Eliya you will visit the main attractions of the town which include the golf course, trout streams, Victoria Park, and boating or fishing on Lake Gregory. You can also visit a working tea factory where the slow-growing tea bushes of this highland region produce some of the world's finest Orange Pekoe tea. You can also add Seetha Eliya and Hanuman Temple. Seetha Eliya is a temple which was mentioned in the famous epic Ramayana. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 3
City Tour of Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast proceed for city tour of Nuwara Eliya. Visit the Hakgala Botanical Garden. The Gardens (27ha) were established in 1860 as an experimental Cinchona plantation from which the anti-malarial drug quinine is derived. Subsequently the gardens were used for experiments in acclimatizing temperate-zone plants to life in tropics. Today Hakgala's gardens of roses, shrubs, ferns & montane woodland are delightfully located in salubrious environment, with small streams running across & wooden bridges built over them with birds flying all over. Proceed to the Gregory Lake. Gregory Lake was built under the period of British Governor Sir William Gregory in 1873. This is the most prominent attraction in Nuwara Eliya and all the visitors used to come here and spent some time by the lake and relax. This was used as a place for water sports and for re-recreational activities during the British time. You can buy a ticket and visit the Lake park and enjoy your evening by the lake. If you like to have a boat ride, there are several people offer that service (at extra cost). Visit the Victoria Park. The Victoria Park is a public park located in Nuwara Eliya, next to the Nuwara Eliya Post Office in Sri Lanka. Originally the park was the research field of Hakgala Botanical Garden. The park was formally named in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. The park was established with the planting of its first tree, an Oak, by a visiting German Princess. The Nanu Oya River runs through the park, creating a number of small scenic lakes that greatly enhance the park's natural beauty. A large number of rare bird species can be found in the park. Then visit the Tea Factory and Tea Plantations in Nuwara Eliya and you can witness how the famous "Ceylon Tea" is brewed. Return back to your hotel for overnight stay.
