Travelling with Kids: Really?

Date : 2018-07-24 15:04:00

Considering the daily work–home–school–family routine, most parents prefer vacationing to detoxify! Some prefer to do it alone, some with their spouses, opting out the kids from the plans. They reason out that taking kids along can be exhausting. There is a cohort which thinks kids may not remember the travel experiences when they grow up. Let me give you three reasons why take kids for a vacation.

Remember the famous quote of Benjamin Franklin, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” In travelling too, the key is to involve the kids during the planning stages of the trip itself. Give them realistic options and let them choose where they want to go. Give them a picture of the things they will see and experience during the travel. In this way, they will be more enthusiastic and could extend good co-operation throughout the trip. Involve them on the budget and time management. Involving them in these matters will help enhance their planning and organizing skills. It will also help them prevent unnecessary expenses such as buying expensive souvenirs or toys since they know the limits of the money.

Secondly, kids learn a lot from their surroundings. Seeing new places and cultures can provide an unforgettable learning experience for them. Travelling not only means new places to see but also relishing the food of the town, experiencing a new culture, understanding a new language and socializing with new people. It pushes them out of their comfort zone, nurturing their self -confidence. It also helps to build up their patience when they can take on the challenges of travelling such as stress and hunger.

Travelling also promotes a strong bond for the family that lasts a lifetime. During family trips, parents are more relaxed and focused on bonding with their kids without having to think of work or household. It provides a break from the daily routines of life. This is a great opportunity for parents to play around and catch up with their kids. Kids develop a feeling of belonging and security which proves beneficial in their social development and confidence.
Parents should their kids during travels or vacations because moments pass by so quickly, and eventually kids are no longer children and will have their own voyages to pursue. Parents should cherish every moment and opportunity for their kids to learn and build a strong relationship with the family.
